Winter Activities At Sportsman’s Lodge Wilderness Resort, Kukagami Lake

Winter is always fun at Sportsman’s Lodge!

When the cold weather arrives and Mother Nature gives Kukagami Lake a blanket of snow, winter enthusiasts can take advantage of all the great activities offered at Sportsman's Lodge during the winter.

Cross Country Skiing

We have amazing cross country skiing on both of our groomed 7 kilometre and 3-kilometre loop trails. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, you can veer off on the ungroomed trails to the north end of Kukagami Lake or the back lakes.

This is an extraordinary area with breathtaking scenery in the winter. Be sure to check out the 50-foot ice falls on Donald Lake while you’re out on your skis!

Ice Fishing

There is some great ice fishing on the back lakes of Donald, Potvin and Chuggin, just to name a few! Ice fishing on these lakes is accessible by snowmobile. Donald Lake is excellent for trout in the winter.

Snowmobiling

A snowmobiling paradise awaits you and is located right at the junction of C105 and C206D.

We are the largest and the most visited snowmobile resort in the area, located at the intersection of two of the top rated Ontario snowmobile trails. The lodge is a favourite stop on a journey from anywhere and we’re often referred to in the Snow Goers Magazine.

Our snowmobilers come in from Parry Sound, North Bay and several other locations by machine and do a long tour up to Cochrane, Abitibi Canyon and beyond. Snowmobile often also take day trips up to Shining Tree through the absolutely pristine wilderness. If you trailer in, we have slots for your trailers and vehicles.

Fuel, permits and maps available on site.

Snowshoeing

Snowshoe enthusiasts love our groomed 7 kilometres and 3-kilometre loops, as well as the ungroomed trails to the north end of Kukagami Lake or to some of the back lakes.

The winter scenery is breathtaking, and the 50-foot ice falls on Donald Lake are truly a sight to see.

Winter is always fun at Sportsman’s Lodge!
